Your own domain and branding

Your academy can run entirely under your own name — your domain, your logo, your colours. Students see your brand and nothing of ours.

Two separate things

Branding— logo, colours, fonts — works straight away on any plan. A custom domain is a separate step with a plan requirement and some DNS work. Do the branding first; it takes minutes and makes the biggest visible difference.

Under Settings you can set:

Your logo goes on your videos too

If you use encrypted video hosting, your logo is watermarked over the player — including on courses you licensed from someone else. A student watching a licensed course sees your brand, not the creator's. See Selling licensed courses.

Connecting your own domain

Without this, your academy lives on a Pedagio subdomain. With it, students visit something like academy.yourschool.com and Pedagio is invisible.

Do this before you advertise anything

Changing domain later means every link you have shared — ads, WhatsApp messages, printed material — points at the old address. It also resets the history your ad platform has built up. If a custom domain is in your plans at all, set it up before you start promoting.

There is a second reason not to leave it: Razorpay cannot be enabled without a custom domain. If you intend to take online payments through Razorpay, this step comes first — see Getting paid.

The setup, in two steps

Both are DNS records added at whoever manages your domain — GoDaddy, Cloudflare, Namecheap. Pedagio shows the exact values to copy; do not type them from memory.

In Pedagio's Settings, enter the domain you want to use and save. Pedagio then shows you the records to add.

Add the CNAME record. This points your domain at Pedagio. If your DNS is on Cloudflare, leave the proxy on— the orange cloud — because that is what issues your SSL certificate.

Add the TXT record. This proves you own the domain, which is required before a certificate can be issued. It appears after your first save.

Wait for DNS to propagate. Usually a few minutes; occasionally an hour or more, depending on your provider.

SSL is automatic

You do not buy or install a certificate. Once both records are in place and verified, HTTPS is set up for you and renews on its own.

If it does not verify

Symptom	Usual cause
Still unverified after an hour	A record was added to the wrong domain, or the host field has an extra suffix your provider appends automatically.
Certificate warning in the browser	The TXT record is missing, or the Cloudflare proxy was switched off.
Domain loads someone else’s site	An old A record is still present and taking priority over the new CNAME. Remove it.
Works without www but not with it	Each subdomain needs its own record. Add one for www too if you want both.

The most common mistake is the host field. Some providers want just academy, others want the full academy.yourschool.com. If you enter the full name where the provider expects the prefix, you end up with academy.yourschool.com.yourschool.com, which silently does nothing.

What students see

Your domain in the address bar.
Your logo and colours throughout.
Emails from your own address, if you have configured your mail settings.
Invoices with your business name, address and GST number.

Pedagio does not appear anywhere in what a student sees. The academy is yours as far as anyone using it is concerned.
