Live session recordings
When you run a live class through Pedagio and record it, the recording is attached to the group automatically. What happens next depends on whether you have secure hosting connected.
What happens after class ends
This assumes your meeting provider is already connected. If it is not, start with Connecting Zoom — without it, nothing arrives automatically and you upload recordings by hand.
Your meeting provider finishes processing the recording and notifies Pedagio. We attach it to the group that ran the session, so every active member of that batch sees it on their Recordings tab — and nobody outside the batch does.
Students who were never in the group cannot open the recording, even with a direct link. Membership is checked on the server each time.
The part worth understanding
Without secure hosting connected, Pedagio stores only a linkto the copy sitting on your meeting provider's servers. It plays fine today. The catch is what happens later.

Recordings can disappear on their own
Turning on permanent encrypted recordings

- 2That is the whole setup. From then on, every new recording is transferred and encrypted automatically when the session ends.
A transferred recording shows Processing for a few minutes while it is encrypted, then becomes available to the batch. Recordings made beforeyou connected hosting are not transferred retroactively — they stay as provider links and will still expire on the provider's schedule.
If a transfer fails
What students see
- Processing — available shortly: the encrypted copy is still being prepared.
- A normal recording entry: stored securely and watermarked to them.
- Hosted by the meeting provider — may expire: no secure hosting connected, so this one is temporary.
That third label is deliberate. Students plan their revision around what they expect to still be there, so a recording that may vanish says so plainly rather than looking identical to one that will not.
